Dr. Richard Golden (Ph.D. John Hopkins University) is the director of the UNT Jewish and Israel Studies Program, which he created in August of 2000, as well as a professor of history at UNT. His book publications include The Godly Rebellion: Parisian Curés and the Religious Fronde, 1652-1662 (1981), Church, State, and Society under the Bourbon Kings of France (1982), The Huguenot Connection: The Edict of Nantes, Its Revocation, and Early French Migration to South Carolina (1988), The Social Dimension of Western Civilization (2003), and Encyclopedia of Witchcraft: The Western Tradition (2006) - awarded the Roland H. Bainton prize in 2007 for best reference book on the Early Modern Period by the Sixteenth Society and Conference.

In 2006, Dr. Golden was named "Jewish Professional of the Year" in the Dallas-Fort Worth region by Regional Hillel of North Texas. He was named the 1997 Regents' Faculty Lecturer by the University of North Texas Board of Regents.
