UNT's interdisciplinary Jewish Studies Program (JSP) began in the Fall 2000 semester
and is housed in UNT's Department of Philosophy and Religion. The JSP is currently
administered by Dr. David Kaplan, department Chair, pending completion of an ongoing
JSP Director search. The JSP is the only Jewish Studies program at a public university
in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The program includes 60 courses on Jews, Judaism, ancient
and modern Israel, and the Holocaust taught by 30 faculty across 10 of UNT's departments.
The JSP offers an undergraduate minor (18 hours) and a certificate (12 hours) in Jewish
Studies, and administers several scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.
The JSP sponsors related programs throughout the year. The JSP's extensive collection
of approximately 2,500 books and 350 films is housed in UNT's Willis Library collection.
