Dr. Wilson’s work as a choreographer, performer and director have involved commissioned creations of original contemporary works for stage as well as site specific environmental performances in fountains, rooftops, subways, parks, museums and galleries. With a specialization in contact improvisation, he has conducted master classes and workshops for dance and theatre artists, public school teachers and students. He maintained a long-term appointment as a teaching artist with the Texas Institute for Arts in Education in Houston, TX. Dr. Wilson has served on the dance faculties of the University of Houston, Rice University as well as UH-Clear Lake in Dance and Theatre. For the past ten years he has held the position of Chairman of the Department of Dance, College of Fine Arts, at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. While at USF, he produced more than 20 Faculty/Guest Artist Concerts including staging collaborations with Doug Varone, Joe Goode, Claire Porter, Jose Bustamante and John Malashock. He has been active with Faculty and Students in International performance tours to Paris, Tunisia, Costa Rica and Bolivia. He has served on the National Board for the American College Dance Festival, as Vice President for Policies and Procedures and as Chairman of the National Committee on Diversity in Dance.
